We recently completed a project that dramatically improved the functionality and aesthetic appeal of a client's home right from the entrance. The original entrance was cramped and lacked sufficient storage, making it difficult to navigate and get ready, especially during colder months. Our client's vision was to create a more inviting and practical space.
The first step involved a significant structural change: extending the entrance to allow for more square footage. This required careful planning and execution. We poured new footings and a concrete pad to ensure a solid foundation. To ensure the new structure was properly supported, we reinforced the framing, tying it directly into the existing roof structure above. After the build out we had to ensure the floor was level. We did this by using a self-leveling compound to ensure the flooring would have a smooth, even surface.
One of the key features of this renovation is the addition of heated flooring. This will provide warmth and comfort during the colder months, making the entrance a welcoming space year-round. The heated flooring was carefully installed over the prepared subfloor.
The final touch was the installation of custom cabinetry. This provides ample storage for coats, shoes, and other necessities, keeping the entrance organized and clutter-free. The cabinetry was designed in close collaboration with the client to ensure it met their specific needs and aesthetic preferences.
